Christmas came early.
Over the past year, I replaced this newsletter with time spent working on and building Category Pirates: a weekly newsletter on the subject of Category Creation & Category Design. And since them Category Pirates has grown to be the #7 most-read paid business newsletter on all of Substack!
If you are already actively reading Category Pirates, thank you.
(And if you’re not, then I encourage you to come hop aboard the pirate ship!)
But today, I wanted to send you a quick note because...
We just published 2 big books!
We have been working on these books for almost exactly 3 years now.
Pirate Christopher, Pirate Eddie, and I met back in 2018 and began collaborating on a book explaining the fundamentals of category creation & category design. It was a monumental undertaking, and despite hundreds of hours of work (and multiple full-book rewrites), the writing process felt like trying to wrangle an 800-pound gorilla. There was just too much to say, too many stories to tell, and too many nuances to navigate.
So, at the start of 2021, we decided to take a different approach.
Instead of trying to write “a book,” we decided to launch Category Pirates as a weekly newsletter—tackling “chapters” each week, allowing us to experiment with different stories and content (and gather feedback from readers along the way).
Now, 48 weeks later, we’re done.
And I am so excited to share these works with you.
We haven’t announced these books live yet.
We’ll be officially launching them publicly tomorrow.
But as my original readers here, I wanted to let you know before anyone else.
So, if you’d like to master the art of category design and grab a copy EARLY (or maybe gift a few for Christmas), you can do so on Amazon:
As always, thank you for being such a great reader. This is some of the best work I’ve ever produced as a writer (especially in the genre of business), and I can’t wait to hear what you think.
Enjoy, and happy Sunday.
